Tractor has been tough to start lately - and once it does start to fire it sounds like only one cylinder is firing and then you hear the other one kick in after a few seconds...motor then starts to run smooth, etc.
I suppose i need to check the injectors and possibly compression?
Any pointers?
thanks

I would check the easy stuff first, air filter, fuel filter, bleed fuel lines, check muffler.

Good tip to get the basics checked out - already did that. Had some water in my fuel filter bowl - drained the tank, put in fresh diesel. Then found more water in the fuel filter bowl - just drained the bowl -thinking that when I drained the tank some water stayed at bottom of tank and was first thing to go into filter bowl.... Drained bowl and went from there. Once it's started it runs like normal. And like I said - sounds like only one cylinder fires first - the after 10-15 seconds the other one sounds like it kicks in.....

Try replacing your glow plugs, maybe one of them has gone bad ??.

Today after running it a bit and it acted like it was starting on one cylinder - I bled the fuel lines and this time even beld the lines up to the injectors - cranking the motor til fuel came out. Then when I started it up fuel or oil was spitting out of the exhaust - spattering on hood and FEL. Exhaust was unusually white or gray......
what the /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif??

Are you using any kind of fuel conditioner? That is cheap and easy to use and see what happens. If there is varnish or the end of the injector is carboned this could help, you probably won't notice a difference for a while.

Yes - I use powerservice....
I wonder If I have some residual water? Could the water I had in the filter bowl clog up my fuel filter?

If you find anything in the "sediment" bowl other than fuel, you need to change the filter. Whatever is in there had to get through the filter, contaminating it.
