Managed to get my CT230 4x4 stuck in a sunk hole...will it hurt it if I pull it from the back draw bar...or do I have to pull it from the front

Take the mower deck off and attach the bucket and use the bucket to lift the front and inch forward, inch it forward in gear as well. Once you get the front out the big back tires should help you climb out. Use your dif lock if you have one.

Safest palce to pull from would be the drawbar. Get the mower off and out of the way, then put a clevis in the drawbar and pull from there. To bad you don't have the bucket on, you could assist with the pull by using the bucket to raise the front and use the curl to help push back a little.

Do not think that is stuck its buried. And yes you get my vote for pic of the month azop when I saw the little pic I thought it was photoshop'ed sorry and WOW.

Draw bar do not think there is anywhere up front that can take the abuse thats going to be needed to get that out you will either damage or bend the loader arms and I know the guard will fold like a napkin or just get ripped off. and same goes for axle you will rip or tear something up or off. Good luck let us know how you make out

So.. here is the story. I decided to mow a section of a lot that was next to my house that nobody maintained. Turns out...I found a busted water main (which explains my neighbors not having water pressure for 4 months). I sunk *immediately* into about 2 feet of mushy clay, and tried to get out with the 4x4 and differential lock and just dug myself another in another foot.

After trying to pull it with my Chevy Z71 forward, backwards, and on the side the only thing I managed to do was move it forward about four inches, at which point the clay sucked the front tire off the rim. I was pretty pissed off when I saw that, but my father in law came over and hooked up a block and tackle to a tree and then drove slowly with his truck which pulled me right out.

All and all, it was a four hour "adventure" when I just wanted to spend five minutes cleaning up a small area of that lot. I'm not sure why, but the when I pulled it out the tire went right back on the rim and still had air pressure.

I've attached some more pictures.

I'd say those pictures take the award for the month. :) Now it's time to give it a well deserved bath before the mud hardens and it's a pita to get clean. I did that once with a 2wd tractor I had. I thought it was moving a little at a time. It was moving alright...down.

Well, I parked it outside...there's Tornados and other such severe weather at the moment...it'll probably be tomorrow before I can attack the inside of the wheels with a pressure washer. I scooped some of the clay out by hand earlier just to make sure everything was still attached :\

just a sidenote nice too see that the guard stood up to pulling on its stronger than I gave it credit

Mow the vacant lot - No good deed goes unpunished.:laughing:
Finding the water main break will save the water company a lot of money, and that will help keep their rates down.
