Stuck BX backhoe pins

Well, I'm wondering if these pins are manufactured a little too tight fo easy removal? Would "sanding" or polishing them down a bit hurt anything? Another problem getting them out is the lack of space on the inside of the pin...hard to get any leverage in there to do some tapping. I see that I am not the only one with pin problems...just one of those things we have to deal with on these little machines...:mur:

If you reduce the diameter of the pins, it creates slop and slop creates wear. Not recommended.

Dont sand anything off the pins! IF you get the pins out and happen to notice the bores are corroded, some very light sanding of the bores followed with some lubrication is OK.

Good point...just have to be pro-active in lubing and removing these on a regular basis...

Once you get the pins out you might want to check the holes to make sure there isn't any paint or rust that might inhibit insertion or removal. When I had a 2620tlb there were times that I couldn't get the pins to budge. I found by keeping the engine at min rpms and moving the stabs and or the bucket VERY gently I could get the pins loose. One hand on the pin and one on the hydro control. It takes practice and patience.

Got the BH off today after the pins were sprayed with PB Blaster for about a week...All the holes and even the pins themselves were pretty grungy looking. Mowed today and will work on cleaning up the pins and holes tomorrow before re-installing the BH. FEL came off perfectly first try...

Are you talking about the pins on the bucket or the hitch. I have never had any trouble with the hitch pins, but the bucket pins were super hard. It took my over an hour to beat the pins out of the bucket, and I couldn't get them back in. I finally put the pins in the metal lathe and turned them down some.

The backhoe attachment pins...the bucket pins have been no problem for me as I switch between a 12 inch bucket and a ripper tooth. I did, however, have a huge problem with the Kubota manufactured backhoe thumb not accepting the pins...I swear the pin was manufactured with too large a diameter to fit...lots of honing and hammering finally got it to go in but it definitely, was not right.
