u dont need to chain a tree to the tracks when i was young the old man got a cat 943b stuck he put trees under the tracks use the bucket to lift mach up u may have to put old wood or stones under bucket after its raised up so it dont get stuck far down in mud trees about 8 inch round will work

I rented a large Cat dozer a few years ago and nearly had a coronary after getting the machine swamped worse than this one. I used the method described by Case above. and it worked well.
Lowering the bucket to raise the machine allows putting logs under the tracks so it can run itself out of the muck. Some work involved and seems simple but it does wok. Good luck.

With the weather patterns the way they have been recently, I'm pretty sure drying out is not an option. He's in Ninole on the wet side of the Big Island. They get as much as 200" of rain per year and that is the average/normal. They have had 4" this month so far and 13" last month. The last couple of years were what we call "drought years" but Ninole still got 140" last year. When we say it's the wet side we mean wet.

Well, only 87.5 so far this year, seems like it has been a strange one.

Rumor is, they might get it out this week, all the players may be in place.

I keep telling my wife, that if it were ours it either would be out by now or have a marker for where it's buried. LOL

Well today was gonna be the day. The retrieval dozer is on site. Unfortunately once the batteries were put back in, the stuck machine wouldn't turnover, possibly bad starter solenoid. Replacement on the way.
Maybe tomorrow.

Loader was unstuck that same afternoon and pulled up the near to resting area near the house using the wide track dozer in previous pic. Unfortunately, I was not able to observe and get a pic.

Very glad to hear you got it out okay. I knew the extra dozer would be the best bet.
What ever happened to the two guys that got it stuck in the first place? Are they still basking in the sun in Hawaii?

Yep, that was the ticket.
Last I heard they had complained about not getting paid and the neighbor wife was headed to bank for copy of the cancelled checks.

Interesting aside, one of the neighbors involved in the recovery told me he had recommended against purchasing that loader for that property saying a wide track dozer was the right machine for the work intended.

Could you get a heavy wrecker on top of the hill to winch it out they usually carry 200 feet of cable
