Stuck Dozer - Help

Build some swamp mats, rock the machine onto the front idlers, put mats under and back out.

Not sure what's up with the site, having trouble posting, hope this works.

That isn't stuck all that bad, excavator would be the best bet. If you don't have one, then use the front loader, raise up as far as possible and place logs under tracks, then walk out. I'd be leary about bringing another dozer into that area you may end up with a real nice mess.

I have to ask, may be a stupid question, but why not make the nimrods that got it stuck pay to get it out?

Mate, its a piece of cake to get that outta there. First; don't go making mountains out of mole hills. Second; get an excavator in (no smaller than a 12 tonner)with a chain/rope,hook it onto the bucket and pull. An excavator can cut it's own track in and use the same to take both machines to the top. Also an excavator can sit far enough away when pulling not to get stuck as well.

I have to agree with this. I've seen a lot of equipment get stuck over the years, and this will probably get it out. People tend to over estimate the size of equipment also. This is not anywhere near D7 in size. More like D5. It also has fairly narrow tracks, make sure what ever you bring in has wide tracks. My guess is that a large excavator will yank it right out, plus it could help dig if needed. It would help if you had a few dry days also.

I'll second that.

I'll never know why people think an excavator is the do-all, end-all machine. I've seen dozers getting THEM unstuck a lot. If you have friends with dozers with winches on them your troubles are over. Just hook the cable up and yard that sucker out of there. Whole operation should take less that two hours and only one person gets muddy.

Thank you!!! That is what I see as well. For all of those who don't know, Dozers have blades and loaders have buckets.
It also weighs no where near 47k. More like 30k. Big Difference.

Probably because there more excavators available than dozers with winches.

Logs under the tracks. Use chains on the track to pull them under.

Deadman and use bucket curl to pull ahead.

WE ONCE GOT A D-9 OUT BY CHAINING A TREE TO THE TRACKS AND THEN
VERY CAREFULLY WALKING IT OUT A FEW FEET AT A TIME.
THE WAY THIS SITTING, YOU MAY HAVE TO DIG A LITTLE TO GET THE TREE
CHAINED TO THE TRACKS.

ONLY OTHER WAY IS TO GET A REMOVAL MACHINE WITH A CABLE AND WINCH IT OUT, BUT MAKE SURE THE MAN IS WELL EXPERIENCED.

GOOD LUCK. AND LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT.

I don't quite get that.
Seems the track is stationary when at the bottom and going the wrong way (from the intended direction) when on top.
Now, if you're talking about chaining to the bottom... yeah, maybe you gain an inch for every inch of track spin, but it sounds a bit flaky.
