stuck gears?

I have a Mitubushi 240. I used it about two months ago, no problem. I cannot get the pto in to gear nor can I get it in the med or high 1-3 or reverse of those gears. Low 1-3 and reverse are working. i,m wondering what the worse case would be. I changed the oil and still have the same problem. I thought maybe water had gotten into the system. I also ran it to warm it up then tried to rock it in 2-1 and reverse. it did go a couple times into second gear -1., also I have no break peddle. Any suggestions? I ,m wondering if its worth the repair expense.

I had owned an Mitsubishi, think it was model 1800, and it did not have a live pto nor synchronized transmission. I, not being used to it, tried to shift while on the go. Locked it up, tight as a drum. Couldn't go forward nor reverse. Pushed the clutch in and returned it to the barn. Has an engine (diesel 23-4 hp). Anyway, with engine off, removed the top of the transmission, (cover) many bolts, came right off with shift levers and all. Held the clutch in via clamp, l put an adjustable wrench on the splined end of the pto shaft and wiggled it back and forth many times until I could move the shifting levers (yokes) by hand to shift the gears. Did not remove any of the oil, no need to. By doing this, the pto was able to turn. Endo. Applied some RTV as a gasket, put the cover back on, removed the clamp that was holding the clutch petal down, and started the girl up. All is good to go! The moral of this story is, do not shift on the fly unless you have a transmission with syncronizers. Hope my experience will help others here. Best regards, Bob
