A small winch with 3 snatch blocks would help too. But your pictures don't look like there's many trees. Glad you got out. I got stuck in the same type of pond with the left front and rear. Lucking a neighbor has a bigger tractor and massive cahones to drive in the spot he to pull me out.

I'm investing in a winch that can mount on a 2 inch hitch I have on the front and back of my little tractor. My new big tractor will have one bolted on. All my land is steep and slick.

Ag tires and even tracks won't help in some types of mud. Ask me how I know...

We don’t know what the difference would been for the OP. He may also have been able to walk right out of that mud.

R-1’s MUCH better than R-4’s in mud though.

Outside of using a tractor on pavement a lot, I cannot fathom why people buy a 4 wheel drive tractor, then slap useless tires on them that literally steal traction away from the tractor.

Personally I like my R4's on my CUT TLB for loader work. I prefer soft squishy R1's on Ag tractors pulling implements in the fields.

Once your machine is up to its belly pan in mud or snow no tire will help. Same goes for tracks.

R-1’s don’t have to be “soft squishy” they can be had with stiff sidewalls and inflated with air pressure to make them stiffer. I do loader work with my R-1’s in the 3 ton range and the tires are excellent.

Once your machine is up to its belly pan in mud or snow no tire will help. Same goes for tracks.

That’s just an assumption because the R-1’s would give you a much higher chance to be out of the mud before you ever get stuck in the first place.

I have run full size backhoes with R-4’s and they get stuck easily in 4WD. I‘ve also run R-1’s and R-4’s on farm size tractors.

R-4's are much easier on the lawn, it's a compromise for me. If I need more traction, step one, FWA, step two, Chains, step three, get out the ice melt and go in the house.

AH - yes. I recognize that condition. A couple times with my first tractor. Out with my cable come-along. So far - not with the second tractor. Learn.........and remember.

Tractors are heavy. Mud is soft. R1-W's make a bit of difference in those conditions...

I’ve got mud and then there is that grease-like mud down by the lower pond where the creek comes in. Black and sticky like moly grease. Pond level fluctuates so where you could go one day, the next your stuck like fly paper. I had ag tractors stuck with both types of tires, truck, four wheeler, a cow, deer and a goat. Best bluegill fishing in that part of the pond. It will suck the shoes and boots off your feet too. That’s why I try to mow close to the water cause you need to see where you’re stepping and who you might be stepping on.

I had my winch on, both times that I got badly stuck. Both times it was useless. The second time it was part of the problem as it was dragging on the ground. I had to drop it and drag it out of the way with my ATV winch before I could back out, pushing with the bucket at the same time.
