Stuck joystick

I lifted up the front of the tractor with my FEL and my joystick is in a lock position. I can't figure out how to unlock it so the loader will move. There's a 2 x 2 inch black metal piece sticking out of the joystick compartment but I don't ever remember it being there--I tried pushing on it but it didn't budge.

Would help to have some idea what tractor you are talking about. :confused3:

I have no idea if this is applicable, but Deeres have a joystick lock. There's a small handlle below the stick itself. Scrimshaw may have locked the stick, inadvertently. I suggest he might want to check his operators manual or tell us what kind of tractor this is.

Yep, it's a small lever just under, and right in front of the seat (right hand side), which has three positions. All the way forward allows full movement of the SCV lever. Putting it in the middle position will lock the SCV so it can't move in any direction. Putting it all the way back (towards rear of the tractor) locks left to right movement, which disables the curl/uncurl function of course.

Chances of this being his problem are probably pretty small though.

Found this lock, and wondered if it was what you are seeing/looking at?

Shot in the dark, but the spring-loaded lock plate item #2.

So it was what RoyJackson pointed out...pulling the lever out right below the joystick, I must have pushed it in with my knee and never had used it before. Thanks for the help.
