Looking at a used Iseki TS1610.
The PTO lever has four speeds.
1 and 2 are on the left, then you push across the middle divider and 3 and 4 are on the right.
I couldn't get it into 3 or 4 b/c the outside of the shifter was rusted.
Sprayed PB Blaster on it and then was able to force it into 3rd--not meaning the gear was hard to engage, but the exterior rust was hard to work against.
Let out the clutch slowly and the engine acted really loaded and started to cut out.
PTO splines didn't move at all. Not "they moved slowly"...they didn't turn a bit.
Is it likely just gunked up, or does that necessarily mean that the gears in the transaxle for the PTO are seized (by rust, etc.)?
I didn't even try to get it into 4 b/c I had to use a hammer to tap it out of 3 and obviously couldn't move the tractor if the PTO got stuck engaged but I couldn't get the lever out...
