That's a standard European axle setup - next to useless off road. I wonder if it was worth all that effort for that load of garbage.

I always tell them Terminal Pickup. Our place is end of the road, and turning a long truck-trailer is really hard. I'd much rather drive to one of the local terminals and let them load it on my truck/trailer with their forklift, and let me figure out how to deal with it at home.

I paid to have them bring it on a lift gate and drop it at my door. That's what I want. I don't want to drive an hour one way to a terminal and save THEM time and money. The place I ordered from is a flat price and free shipping. Don't know what the difference in freight price to nearest terminal vs my house is, but given I would kill 3 hours + miles +fuel.....I would have to save at least $150/on the shipment to consider that even an option.

I would say he has a little bit too much trailer for the place he's gonna back into. Yes, I did look at the overhead shot.
That is dispatchers for you. Listen to the customer and then do as they please.
Mine says to me all the time, "I will not lie to you, I may not tell you the truth but I wont lie to you."

The bad part is you pay extra for lift gate delivery.

Can you just imagine the mess the driver would be in IF he had a tandem tractor instead?

Years ago, my father purchased a new farm tractor & a hay cage. He provided directions for delivery, 3 miles west then 3 miles south. The driver tried to go 3 miles south first. That put him into a private pasture, 1 lane trail road, into rock hills only fit for a four wheel drive vehicle without a trailer. The semi of course was jack knifed against boulders. The competing equipment dealer in town sent out a tractor. My dad's equipment was unloaded, the trailer disconnected and eventually the semi removed. Cost the delivery driver his job & likely cost the company $$ to the competing dealer !

Well, another setback. The heatpump arrived damaged so I had to refuse the shipment:mur:

Looks like someone set something really heavy on too, wrinkled the sheet metal around where ductwork needs to hook up, lots of broken styrofoam down inside the blower area.

So now probably another 2-3 weeks. Not happy at all.

Sometimes I wonder if anybody in the shipping industry cares. I've had stuff similarly damaged, where it was so obvious I wonder why they continued with the charade of delivery. What a waste of time.

Those skid marks on the top of the foam are probably a clue. Could even be from a set of forks I suppose, if they were pulled in narrow.

I've been pretty lucky for vehicle transport the 5 times I've done it.

My brother has not been so lucky with things from the farm... ordered 6 large metal water troughs and 2 were so badly damaged they would not hold water.

He had another delivery by semi of some corral panels and when the driver left hook the gate post and kept on going taking out 60' of fence... the rear bumper bar of the trailer hooked the fence.

As mentioned the drive just kept going... a few people were waving their arms and he waved back!

That rig is way too big for resdential deliveries. I drove professionally for42 years and never once had management say "we are going smaller" Larger trailers mean more revenue with fewer reloads and less drivers to pay.
Any time a customer insisted on an off road delivery, I would tell them upfront "that's on you if I get stuck and if I do it will be expensive" They usually found another option. If the company wanted us to go off road, they would have given us off road equipment. That said, there is a lot of poorly skilled driver with bad decision making tendencies out there. The good ones won't put themselves in a position to fail.
