Stuck with a hydro

I've had it off the pavement and in the mud an still can't get it stuck

If you define "stuck" as having to get the tractor out using other than the tractor, then I have never been stuck. I have had to use the bucket many times, but never had to dig it out or pull it out with something else. Some would say I've never technically been stuck.

BTW: LB, I bet you never did this with your BX.

If you get stuck in mud with a hydro is it harder to get out than with a gear shift?

I use my bucket when stuck and it works great!

It seems to me that it would be harder to rock the tractor in order to get momentum working for you, especially when you let off the pedal it is like putting on the brakes..

JJ I repaired a 4 speed ford backhoe that the prior owner got stuck and used the "rock" method. He managed to break the main input gear, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, the main cluster shaft (bent), counter shaft (broke), counter 2nd gear, counter 3rd gear, two gears in the over/under unit a he broke the nose off the pinion gear in the differential.

I would not recommend the "rock" method for getting unstuck. Unless you are some type of ********* or enjoy splitting tractors to perform repairs.

If you guys have been able to get out with the FEL you ain't been stuck! I tried to cross a melt stream in a field and found that the 48" of frost was out where the water was. Still hard as a rock everywhere else! The front of the tractor dropped like it fell off a trailer and splushed onto the belly. I pushed down with the FEL and it went down to it's max with no resistance. Pulling it back up forced the tractor down deeper. Mud now over the tops of the front tires. Got a 4x8' x3/4 ply sheet and put that under the FEL. Yep, pushed that down and out of site with no change. Had to spend hours digging the mud out, digging trenches behind the tires. Putting cut wood in the trenches to spread the force,etc. Then used a 3/4 ton truck with a snappy strap to pop the tractor out. That was the longest 15 min chore on record.

How true. My method for not getting stuck is to run in 2WD. The minute I get "stuck", I slip into FWA. If that fails, I then use the FEL.

This reminds of my first week with my Tractor.
As crazy as this sounds even with the backhoe I was stuck, I mean the more your try to move the more you would sink down.

The tow truck came look at it and left he said "I can't get that out"
So I call a recovery and they pulled her right out in this case hydro or gear it did not matter.

Sorry I did not take any pictures like a said first week with my brand new tractor looking at the mud past the tires front and rear broke my hart but when she came out with out a scratch all was fine.

It was not last time I got STUCK where we used another tractor to pull me out.
I was installing french drains for my property major water problems with the being stuck issues

The drains work 24-7 making water and now I don't get stuck anymore.
I'll never forget it The toothbar along with the backhoe got me out of quite a few jams.
