Hi all
Just bought a new Branson 3520R. I'm going to clear about 4 acres of land with it. I've been checking out the stuimp bucket to up root a bunch of 2-3 inch trees and of coarse stumps.
Any one have any experiences using a stump bucket? Do they work as advertised?

Hi there Mr. T. Take a look at the very bottom of your thread and you will see several threads on "Stump Buckets". Several pictures accompany too. Happy digging. Mike

I built one using a 24" piece of 3/8" wall pipe. Cut off a piece 30" long, then cut it in two diagonally. Creating a pointed scoop. Built a quick hitch bracket and welded it to the scoop. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of it. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread until I added 3rd function hydraulics to my loader and built a hydraulic operated puller.

The tree spade worked pretty good in the Spring when the ground is soft. You can dig out a fairly good sized tree if you have patience. The down side to it is you end up with a hole in the ground that you have to come back and fix.

Here's some pics of my puller. 3rd function hydraulics is expensive, but once you get over the initial cost you realize how much more effective your tractor/loader can be.

Wow that's a mean looking attachment! Nice work

Thanks. My Brother has a tree shear that fits on a loader, will cut 12" trees. If we can pull them we use the puller instead. The tree shear leaves a stump to deal with.

I've built several attachments, the tree puller gets used the most.

Is pulling trees easier than pushing them over?

Been shopping for a stump bucket. And one guy I called never heard of such a thing, but told me that maybe my 35 HP Branson wouldn't handle it, since there built for more powerful skid steers. Any one else ever use these on a tractor.

A lot less mess if cleaning scattered trees. If working a fencline, pull and pile a grapple mouthfull, then start another pile. Come back with Grapple and carry each pile to the burn pile. A little smoothing with bucket or box blade and you're done.

When I built mine I had an L4400 Kubota. It handled it fine. I'm not familiar with the Branson tractor's loader capabilities. My Kubota would easily raise the rear of the tractor off the ground unless carrying a heavy ballast.
