The typical bucket called a stump bucket seems like it would not dig well??? Being shaped like a wedge, the sides are hitting the soil. I hope to build one soon shaped more like a shovel. Any thoughts or ideas?

I built mine from a 24" diameter, 1/4" wall thickness piece of pipe. The end that welds to the loader QA bracket is half the pipe, or 12" vertical. It's 28" long. The tip end is 6" wide with the sides running upward at approximate 40 degree angle to where it welds on the QA bracket. I ground the tip end sharp. It works very well for a variety of purposes. My Brother recently bought some 6' high shade trees. He used the bucket to dig the holes for them. I'll look for pics but I don't think I have any.

Here's some pics I got here on TBN but I don't remember the thread title or have a link to it. Gave me my idea. I had the pipe so went that route instead.

I have talked with Loflin industries, only 1 hour away and decided to save my base plate for another attachment and just buy their stump bucket. I like the Idea of it being 5 ft long with a slight bend in it to get extra leverage like a hammer claw. I don't think I can build one this long that will not bend. Price was good also

Maybe someone here knows more about this. I am considering clearing a lot for my homeowner myself rather than my usual grading guy. Well, actually he died and I need to find another, but I considered doing it myself on this job only because it is all pine stumps. The entire property has been clear cutted several years ago. No hardwood stumps, if there were, I would not be considering it. I am assuming that the pine stumps will be less trouble than the hardwood. Is this true? I have a S250 BCat. Rather than haul off the debri, we are pushing it to the back of the property. How much trouble are these pine stumps gonna be?

If dead stumps they won't be bad. They root shallow. Something like the bucket you pictured will work. If you noticed in the video, he's also digging out a dead tree/stump. It'll still be a LOT of work and time. We have a T300 Bcat like the one pictured. They are a workhorse as seen in the video. More effective at this type of work than a skid type. But it'll definitely give you a project for this Summer. We want pics when you get started of course.

Yep, good design. I have the Blue Diamond version, looks very similar.
