Stupid easy LED lighting in the barn or shed

Now THAT is a great idea. Great downlight for a workbench.

Note that you don't need the tombstones. You can just solder wires to the LED pins and encapsulate it all in epoxy. Those 4 foot LEDs are 19watts or 150ma. They don't need much power. They cost $8 each in a 10-pack. I think the pins on one end are dummy pins and so you have to test them to see which side light is up.

The lights you linked to require the ballast since they are PnP. they also use 17 watts not 19, so I'm not sure you provided the right link or not.

$7.10/bulb isn't bad, especially given the +123 lumens/watt. But here's one better, same 123 lumens/watt but only $6.10 in packs od 10: Philips 4 ft. T8 17-Watt Cool White Linear LED Light Bulb (1-Pack)-45659 - The Home Depot

And here's another 10 pack +123 lumens/watt down to $4.90 each: Philips 32W Equivalent Cool White T8 4 ft. LED Bulb (1-Pack)-469486 - The Home Depot

Sodo, keep in mind that some of the 4 foot LED replacement tubes feed from one end, but not all. Some hook up with the Neutral on one end and the "hot" line on the other. Some are designed to be operated off of an instant start ballast and as such are "drop in" and others require removing the ballast entirely and feeding directly from the Neutral and Hot line.

OK good point.
The only LED replacement tubes I have actual experience with, feed from pins on one end (other end were dummies). AND they can be used with ballast (as Plug-n-Play) OR direct 120VAC. I deleted my ballasts and ran direct 120VAC to them. Also because the ballasts waste energy and will fail someday too.

Some of you guys are pretty innovative

Aren't they!!!

I especially like the idea of having one over a rollup door to come on with the opener!!!! My wife is gonna want one of those over her garage door!!!

Someone on another forum posted about these 4ft replacement LED "bulbs"
I saved all my old burnt out fluorescent fixtures.
Stripped out the ballasts and rewired them
A hot and ground on one end of the LED bulb
THEY WORK GREAT
Started with a 10 pack and needed to order another 10 pack to finish up.
Did fixtures at my house and my 90 yr old Moms.
Great for sheds and garage in cold temps

I really like the idea using pvc gutters
