Those are great for replacing leaky gas spouts on the old style cans. I just put four on some cans we have at our cottage. Unfortunately the lawmakers were smart enough to change the threads on the new can so the old style replacements wont fit.

The yellow collar on the EZ-Pour high-flow spout threads on perfectly to whatever new diesel fuel cans Tractor Supply sells. The black collar does not fit. However, do not just go and put a regular spout like the EZ-Pour on a 2009 and later "Obamacan" with the stupid push-to-leak nozzle and no vent. The lack of a vent makes it take about 20 minutes and a lot of sloshing to pour five gallons from an Obamacan with a regular spout as all of the air that must return into the can has to gurgle back into the can through the nozzle. The push-to-leak nozzles provide a small amount of venting due to their leaking so it only takes about 10 minutes to pour four and a half gallons into the tractor (while the other half-gallon leaks all over the hood and tank.)

What you need to do is take a half-inch drill bit and drill a hole in the top of your new Obamacan some point above the maximum fuel fill level. Then push the little barbed yellow vent included in the EZ-Pour spout kit into the hole. Screw on the spout with the yellow collar and voila, you now have a fully-functional new diesel fuel can that empties in about 45 seconds with no glugging, spilling, or leaking. It's actually much safer for the environment than the purportedly "environmentally-safe" Obamacans because you don't spill or leak fuel.

I'm not exactly a fan of the Mr Obama, but I should point out that these new nozzle regulations predated him by a few years. I was cursing them under the last guy, and he might not have had anything to do with it either!

Hmmmm. Fortunately, I've got several of the old military jerry cans with flex metal spouts. Dropped a brand new LED "super sport" flash light down into the tractor fuel tank. I was congratulating myself for holding onto the lanyard - for easy retrieval. I found that submersion under 6" of diesel was not so good. It died!!

The unelected EPA did develop and issue the regulations prior to Obama's election. The regulations however did not go into effect until after his election and this is very prominently marked on things such as the EZ-Pour nozzles ("not for use on cans manufactured after Jan 1. 2009.") The regulations also seem to be the exact type of thing Obama would approve of and the timing of their implementation coincides so well with his ascendence to power, that in the minds of most people it's something he did. That's why I've heard the euphemism "Obamacan" thrown around quite a bit and thought I might get a few chuckles by using it here.

There have been instances where we have had machines that have fuel restriction
problem, we can eventually trace it to the tank and often find debris like this in the
tank. if the piece is shaped right it can get sucked against the pickup and block fuel
flow... all depends on what and how it's in there. i would think eventually you want to
try to fish them out, although it may not be very easy to do,, esp if you have a cab model

If you have to fish the bits out, you might use one of the flexible boroscopes to guide a grabbing tool. They can be had for about $80 at HF (if you have a 20% coupon). Even cheaper are USB cameras with built in LEDs ($35) that plug right into a laptop and allow you to see where the offending pieces are. You could then either use the HF or Sears mechanical pick up tool 9( Sears.com )or an attachment on the USB camera to grab the item. There is at least one of these USB camera devices that comes with little hooks and magnet attachments to help retrieve things ($49).

Get yourself a set of those long 3 finger grabbers . They will come in handy time and time again. I prefer the magnetic kind but they aren't always suited. I never did fall for that new gas can nonsense. I have the old style and that's what I use. Those new ones are a joke and way too expensive.

Do yourself a favor and get some of these cans:

Just remember they are not EPA approved (lol). You can either make your own spouts or buy them. They pour fast and are high quality.
