Update...Great news!!!

Based on this post and my confidence that even in sweatshops the workers need to turn out a functional product, I investigated further.

I ran out of grease on Sunday and before I did anything I grabbed on to the ram handle and pulled out. Same as always no little tab sticking out to pass through the keyhole shaped opening on the bottom of the gun. I noticed that the keyhole had a pretty good sized skinny part. I then nutted up and pulled harder than I ever had and then saw a groove cut in the ram rod. Eureka! This groove allowed the whole rod to be pushed over into the keyhole where it held firmly. I have never had such a pleasurable grease tube changing experience.

So don't look for a tab, but maybe a groove recessed into the ram rod way at the end.

My grease tubes always come out empty and only a little grease remains on the ram face. The gun is very efficient at using all the grease.

Wow.. I was honestly believing that you had a grease gun that didn't have the "pull it back and to the side to lock it" type of grease gun.

Different types of people I guess... I am the "bull in a china shop" type of person. I have actually pulled the plunger all the way through the flat metal piece that pushes the grease. It never dawned on me that you wouldn't be pulling it hard enough to get it to that point.

Incidintally, I don't have trouble with carbon copies when signing stuff either. If anything I have to hold back to keep from ripping the top copy with the point of the pen. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'm kicking myself now for all the years of tube changing on this gun without using the feature. I really have gone through probably a dozen tubes since I bought the bulldozer a year and a half ago. I am a major overgreaser, just love that blood red lube.

Another satisfied customer .... it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling, doesn't it??? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm only saying that because, quite a number of years ago, I went through the same experience. I had grease up to my elbows the first time I tried to change the cartridge. When you notice the keyhole in the top and finally pull on the plunger hard enough to see the grove and it slips in there and stays ... it a Eureka!!! moment.

It was more of a hang your head in shame while grinning moment.

I always grease before putting the machine away and so by that time I am pretty beat up and my energy is depleted. I wasn't about to jump up and down.

Thanks folks

what is even more fun is to "when screwing the new tube of grease on/in" to bump the handle and knock it over sideways and back out of the grove forcing the grease & tube back appart & spraying spooging grease all over you're chest, hands arms & the floor all while trying to stop the squishing of the grease out /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif don't ask me how I know! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif also don't do it in front of the boss or else she won't let ya live it down for long! after a week of harrasing I had to have her hold the plug wire on the lawn mower to see if there was any spark /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif she hasn't said a thing since /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
