Well, they never over-do anything on TOH.:p There are entire threads on other forums about homeowners being driven broke by participating in one of that show’s renovations. Guilty pleasure, I used to watch it every weekend, but they did go a bit over the top in recent years.

I’ll ask two of my neighbors who have gotten new deep well geo systems in the last ten years, but I think both have fewer and shallower holes than that, in 5000 and 8000 sq ft, respectively.

I always wondered who actually paid for all the work that was done on TOH. Seemed like there was an almost unlimited time and budget.

Old FuddyDuddy already won this contest 50 years ago, with his motorized bicycle screwdriver lobotomizer.
What's the back story to that?

Hmm… thought he already posted that story just a few pages back, in this very thread? Let me know if you can’t find it, and I’ll search for it. Great story.

Spoke with one neighbor this morning. He said each system only required two holes 45-50 ft deep. Since it’s closed loop, they don’t worry about capacity, as you do with a well for domestic water, it’s just a matter of drilling deep enough to hit top of aquifer.

Our domestic water wells mostly run 150-200 feet deep, in this neighborhood, so the geo wells are only 25%-30% of that.

He did post it. I looked but with over 500 replies I couldn't find it.

Found it. Couldn't connect using jstpssng's link

I’ve watched this old house probably from the beginning, I do agree they go way overboard but I do enjoy the show especially because we DVR it and I can fast forward through the crap I don’t want to see but if I remember right, it was eight Wells. It also was piped through the water heater to keep the water warm in the water heater so the water heater didn’t have to do as much work but I was telling the neighbor about it does heating and air-conditioning and he thought those units at that house on TOH would never pay for themselves

I will just let the picture speak for its self. I was just sore for a few days, no damage to tractor, pulled it back upright with the other tractor and let it set a few hours.
