Subcompact tractors and driveline length

Reading of some information from John Deere, it says you must use the quick attach system with the MX4 rough cut mower to 'facilitate driveline length'.

What does the really mean? Would the Pats easy change system do the same thing?

Is this a common problem with subcompacts and what other implements need this quick attach system for the driveline length?
