Subsoilers: Rankin, North Star, NorTrac, Agrisupply, Gearmore all the same?

Good success with my Deere 22B with the 10" wide tip and the mole ball. Water no longer ponds on the fields after a rain. A distinct greener and taller strip of vegetation outlines every pass.

I'm pretty sure I have the Nortrac subsoiler. I got some small impliments from Northern Tool early on at least, pretty sure it included the subsoiler. At any rate it pulled fine behind my 3,500lbs 32hp L3200 with R4s. Don't think they were loaded at the time.

Popped a few sheer pins. Mostly due to slop & wear though rather than snagging stuff. I did a lot in early spring & hit permafrost on the north side of my barn (Denverish, Parker, CO). Usually spun the tires as I was going slow rather than popping the sheer pin.

I "plowed" a couple acres of overgrazed pasture before hitting it with a rototiller. Worked well. Hard to beat a $150 impliment, even if it's "overkill". You won't find a cheaper or simpler implement around.

Some subsoilers have a replaceable foot to swap between subsoiler & middle buster. Others have a pipe laying attachment. You could make your own attachments for any of em for under $100 if you have any metal working tools.
