Thanks for all the feedback. I read that Washington Tractor was opening a shop in Poulsbo, where I live, so I may have a nearby option soon.

The tractor seems to be running normally, but I am paying close attention to it. When Wash tractor opens I will talk to them about it.

Hi,

So, after several months, I'm not much closer to solving this issue.

Here's what's happened since these posts were made:

The nearest Kioti dealer is 85 miles away. I don't have a trailer and having it hauled both ways would have cosdt $800 or more. I had a local, experienced diesel shop haul it in. They began with the fuel system, tested the fuel injectors and found that stop lever (not sure what to call it) was on the wrong side of something else. They corrected it and thought maybe they could make a modification to keep it in the correct position.

They found that the injectoors were poor and replaced them. Also the glow plugs were burned down, so replaced them.

They put it back together and tested it. It smoked a great deal (fuel smoke) and then started to run away. They choked off the air immediately and killed it. They took it apart and the stop lever was in the correct position.

The mechanic doesn't want to tear into other things without some advice. He has tried getting technical help from Kioti but is getting no reponse.

He is wondering if the engine is burning oil.

Does qanyone know the best way he could get some advice? I gave home the manual I got ftom the Australian site, but it doesn't have exploded views. Does the shop manual have those?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help is appreciated.

Pat

Still injection pump fuel rack as said numerous times by various people who have experienced what you are seeing with your tractor.
If you can't get Kioti to respond see if your diesel guy has a source for checking/rebuilding injection pumps. If they don't have a source at least see if they can do a diagnosis on the existing pump. Otherwise you could buy a pump from a dealer or from Kioti, but I wouldn't until you have a definite diagnosis.

When my fuel pump/fuel rack failed the tractor shut down and would not start, after letting it sit for a few days I went out and tried it again and it went full throttle and I had to kill by stoping the air flow. When I took it to the shop and had it worked on under warranty they said it was the fuel rack sticking and recomended that I use a fuel additive.

Thanks for the input. I was looking at a Kioti parts site and noticed that the fuel injection pump for my tractor has a new number. I wonder if it has been redesigned due to problems?

Parts numbers are changed all the time- sometimes for a different supplier providing the particular part, sometimes for super-cessions by the manufacturer of the tractor/vehicle, etc. It's not always because the prior part was defective or needed to be changed- it's often because someone is supplying a similar part for less money or with more features, etc.

So it is not always a bad thing for the existing customer, nor is it for the ones who get the 'newer' part for whatever reason.

Forgot to mention that ALL emissions related components, such as, and in particular, injection pumps on diesels are under federal warranty for 3 years, 3000 hours. Kioti won't make this known, nor will most dealers, but it is a fact and you need to look into it if the problem turns out to be your injection pump.
It shouldn't matter being the second owner, the feds warranty follows the tractor during the time frame of the emissions coverage.
Don't let someone tell you your pump failed due to lack of fuel additives use, the pump HAS to perform correctly and meet stated emissions standards during the 3/3000 timeframe. If it doesn't the manufacturer is responsible to make it work or replace it with a working pump.
It is similar to the car truck 5yr/50,000 miles emissions warranty the gasoline vehicles need to meet.
