New Holland TC29
Greetings from Texas!

Recently my TC29 has been exhibiting some strange behavior. When the engine is running at normal operating speeds and I turn the wheels hard over one way or the other, the tractor seems like it's gonna stall out! I have no idea why it's doing this, so I was hoping for a little insight from the experts before I loaded it up to bring it into the shop.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is this something that I can adjust, or should I just bring it in?

Thanx in advance for your help!

Shakman,

I don't know enough about the steering hydraulics to really know the answer. Perhaps there is a relief value in the steering hydraulics stuck?

Hmmm, without the knowledge of most people here I would have to say that something needs the attention of the dealer. I sounds like something is overloading the engine and by simply turning shouldn't happen. Maybe turning in almost hard concret while pulling a bottom plow with the front loader buried collecting debris and with 4 flat tires. MAYBE! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif If all else fails maybe even a call to the dealer would be of some help and you might be able to fix yourself or something if not a warranty item I mean under warranty.

Power loss:
Not being familiar with the tractor I assume it will have power steering.

Does this happen in 4 wheel drive and also in 2 wheel drive? Does it occur gradually as you turn the wheel or only when the front wheels are fully turned? Could it be in the power steering system or the front wheel stops not being properly adjusted to the power steering hydraulics.

It turned out to be the fuel filter. The stinkin' thing was COMPLETELY clogged with this thick, black molasses-lookin sludge. No wonder I didn't have any power under load. Once I changed that out and bled the system, it worked like a champ. I guess that's what I get for using lesser-quality diesel....chalk this up to another lesson learned the hard way :)
