I recommend James Herriot's books including "All things wise and wonderful" I've read them several times and still get a kick out of his tales of animals, people, and farms in England!

Huge fan of Ol' Rog. I've got a few autographed copies of his literary gems! I just recently finished his book, "Life with dogs". Loved it!

I second the Roger Welsch motion... any of em...
"Red Dragon" is very good. In fact, all three books are best read in series. They end very differently to the movies which are now somewhat dissappointing to watch since I know "what really happens."
"Green Mile" is not to be missed...
Most of the Clancey books are very good as well.
"Bulldozer" by Allistar Mclean is a neat read but it's been out of print for a few years and very difficult to obtain these days.
"Where Eagles Dare" by the same author is one to pick up as well. Probably easier to get than bulldozer.

It has nothing to do with tractors, and you may not learn anything valuable, but for entertaining stories about hunting, fishing, camping, and rural living (many of which I could identify with), my favorites are the books by Patrick F. McManus. I have most of his books. The first one I ever read, and still have of course, and still think was his best, was A Fine and Pleasant Misery. That was many years ago and I laughed until tears ran down my cheeks and my wife and daughters thought I'd lost my mind. I think perhaps his best known book is They Shoot Canoes, Don't They?

Oh yeah -- one more. "An Hour Before Daylight" by Jimmie Carter (refers to the time of day he got up). Lots of good stuff about rural life in the 30's.
