Don't forget a chain for towing or pullin' stuff. If you don't have enough room to store it on the tractor, let it drag the ground behind you. It is easier to pull the chain than to push it.

Just bought a DK35 w/Great Bend BH. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a compliment of useful tools... I believe everything is metric???
Is there need for a 3/4 Metric drive set? or special snap ring pliers etc... Trying to put my Christmas list together...Thought there might be some insightful ideas out there, that I wouldn't think about till 20 minutes after I figure out I need it.........Thanks.....Great site!!!

You won't need much but I always have handy some decent pliers, crescent wrench, small length of pipe, and a small metric tool set to tighten anything that may have loosened. If I'm working in the woods, I have my large lop pruners, small axe, pry bar, tow chain and occasionally the chain saw with me.

Tool kit? I carry a toolbox in the back of my truck. On my tractor I carry a cell phone. The only time I needed something, a tool kit wouldn't have helped. Maybe a 20k winch, but not a tool kit.

If a tool kit would make you feel better, I've been real impressed with the little gizmo from Crescent that acts as a fully adjustable 6 pt. socket and ratchet in one. It fits anything from about 3/8" to 7/8". Don't bother with the cheap knock-off version. It's junk. Be sure to get the real Crescent brand. That, a pair of pliers and some band aids ought to do it.

I only work in the day, but if you think you will be out after dark it pays to carry a small bottle of headlight fluid, you dont want your lights running out when you are far from home and having to drive back with no lights.

Mith is from England, drives on the wrong side of the road, and uses very confusing terms that we Americans can't understand. But don't forget the glow plug starting fluid . . . not sure how to start a tractor in cold weather without it (and sorry Mith, I don't know what you English folks call that stuff)

Well, it looks like we've covered duct tape and bailing wire, but we need to include the third essential item of every tool kit...

A can of Bondo body filler!!!
Bondo can be used for a multitude of uses. Here's an example...

My cousin was driving along in his car once and discovered the battery wasn't fastened down. It slid partially off the tray and it began rubbing up against one of the pulleys on the engine... by the time it was discovered, there was a small hole in the side of the battery. He mixed up some Bondo he had with him, patched the battery and drove it like that for a few more years!

Duct tape, Bondo, and bailing wire... what else do you need?

In case you get the tractor stuck and you get hungry, having some MRE's would be helpful...
