Well 40-50 HP is a little vague. Are you wanting something from the compact class or the utility class? I have a New Holland Workmaster 40, which is the largest and most powerful compact tractor they sell. My neighbor has a 5-series John Deere, which is the entry level tractor in their utility class. But the two tractors are totally different. The compact tractors use a steel frame and are more lightweight. The utility tractors are cast iron engine blocks and transaxles bolted together and they’re much heavier. The capabilities between the two are night and day from what I’ve seen.

For what it’s worth, the NH Workmaster 40 has been an excellent compact tractor, but the matching 140TL loader is trash. If I was buying again I’d probably buy the tractor by itself and then purchase an aftermarket brand loader.

FWIW I occasionally wonder if I should have gotten the 4060 instead of the 4701. But I'm very happy with the size and capability of the 4701 on my 28 acres.

I'm curious to hear what they quote -- I suspect price-wise it will come in very similar to the 4802.
The L4060 came in at the same price as the l4802. Both were just over $38 cash. The Dk4720se was $32 for last years model. I thought the KIOTI would be a better price than that.

I’m getting a quote on the Kubota L4060LE and KIOTI DK4220SE tomorrow. Those tractor seems like they would fit all my needs. I’ve been borrowing my Dads BX right now and it’s brutally slow.
When I first started looking at buying a tractor in 2018 I asked many questions on this forum.
One answer that rang true was "Buy one size of tractor bigger than you think you need".
Did I listen? no. Went from a L3301 to a MX5400 within two years.
My advice is to buy once, cry once. This will be a tractor that will be with you 20-30 yrs or longer.

I heeded those warning's of get the next size up and ended up with the SK45SE non hst. LOVE IT after about a dozen years. Only had a few minor things to happen. I would suggest that upon buying whatever, get the service manual(S). That would have sav ed me some recent frustrations with my PTO intermittently not working. Simple relay fixed the issue, but ya don't know what ya don't know..

With the kioti I like how its pretty simple to do maint, and most repairs. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I did put in a third function valve (thanks to you tube and TBN), a radiator when I got too close to a limb and it broke off the lower hose. JB weld did last me about 2 yrs though for that...

I got mine new in 2012 or 13 out the door price was just under 20K. No cab no attachments.

As someone on here mentioned its a good idea to really think out and plan what you will be using it for. Those implements you want may not work on just any tractor. Example, I wanted/needed a flail mower. I opted for a 6' titan that allows me to **** it 18" to one side. Without real remotes I wouldn't have been able to do that. How many rear remotes you need will depend on what you plan to use it for.

Someone else on this thread mentioned tractor market place (or something like that). I used them and found a great used f1445 commercial mower about 600 miles away. Went picked it up and after calling the dealer who had it. Glad I did too. If I need a dealer there are some close by me for both models.

Good luck on your purchase.

TYM is currently most budget friendly.
55hp (2,700 loader lift) without a cab can be had sub $30k, with cab just a bit over $30K.
Rougher edged than a Bota or Deere, but only the Bota construction machines have high specs and are at least 2x the cost.

Just curious, as I'm in the constant state of looking to buy, what makes the loader trash?

I paid about $30k for a Kioti DK4520 with FEL, a 72" bucket, and loaded rear tires. It's been an awesome tractor so far.

Bucket cylinders constantly have air in them due to an inherent design flaw, which allows the bucket to be "floppy", which makes backdragging material a pain. And now the float function has stopped working and they are saying the replacement spool cap and spring is $400. And removing the "quick detach" loader from the tractor is almost impossible. I've only successfully removed it once in three years. Another time it bent the mount so bad I had to beat it back out with a sledge hammer. Would not buy a 140TL loader ever again.

Good advice until you reach ~60hp.

Then you need to choose between HST or gears
