The simple cure might be to drill new holes in the welded cutting edge with a 5/8" hole saw or torch them in. The new grader blade should have the slightly squared shoulders for the plow bolts to lock them down. I would space these holes two inches from the leading edge on the welded in place blade. Pretty easy job with a torch, takes about an hour with a hole saw and drill.

Looks different from mine for sure, are you positive that it is a heavy duty bucket? Most heavy duty buckets come with the second blade in place when new, thought you were replacing the existing one. The bucket pictured appears to me to be a standard duty type. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in on this.

My bucket is the HD per dealer. He showed me the std duty and it had no holes at all. Additionally, the HD bucket is grapple compatible and it has 2 holes, 1 each side on the top and rear corners thru which the grapple pins and rotates. I compared the std duty to HD and mine had these 2 features which led me to believe it was HD. The Deere website even says the HD bucket is the only one for 553 that is compatible with bolt on edge and grapple. They may have changed some bucket features?

Hopefully your dealer can sort this out and get the right cutting edge for you in that case.

I have a global carrier. Per JD website, the std duty bucket for JD500 carrier has holes in welded edge. The std duty for global does not. The HD global carrier bucket has a 6 inch wide welded edge vs 4 inch. So the bolted edge I have will work on the std bucket for JD500 carrier since my bolted edge is 2 inches wider (6 vs 4) than the welded edge. I need an 8 inch wide bolt-on edge. I don't even know if they make one. My local dealer (whom I thought did not know what they were talking about ) told me I have to get the 98 inch long cutting edge and cut to fit. $328 part only. So maybe that's what I have to do? I don't know if I would pay that much. They still charge extra to cut it. Close to 400 out the door

I looked on the build sheet for my loader, and my cutting edge is the same part number. When I ordered my loader, the dealer told me there was no longer and option for standard or heavy duty buckets, so mine's listed as 'general purpose.' Mine has the bolt holes pre drilled, so could it be that your bucket is older? Doesn't look so by the pics. Inside the bucket what is the distance from the welded edge to where the taper begins down the sharpened edge? Are the bolt holes centered in that measurement?

If you can't find an edge cheaper than $328, i would do just that...won't hurt anything, and a 6" edge is going to take a long while to wear out...

I don't have my tractor at my house but the welded edge is 6 inches wide from back 90 degree edge to front of tapered edge. From the picture it looks like the taper is about 1 inch of the 6 inch width. There is probably 1 inch of width not underneath side that is the overlap to allow the weld. So there is probably 4 inches visible in the picture that is not tapered . The edges are apparently dependent on the carrier type as well. Since I have the global carrier I had the get HD bucket for bolted edge and grapple compatibility

Ahhh. I have the JD carrier on mine. My welded cutting edge is 4", that's gotta be the difference. Must be only 1 bucket option for JDQA
