New Holland TC21D
I thought it might be fun to see if there are many things that we would change about our TC Series Tractors if we could. I thought of this while putting fuel in the TC21D today. Also maybe on the outside chance that a New Holland designer, company rep may view this site. Not out of the realm of possibilities with this wonderful site. Anyway here is my list:

1.Make it easier to put Fuel in the Tractor. The fact that its on top of the hood is a bad place. Hard to fill when the FEL is on. Also always seem to get Fuel on hood even if you are careful.

2.Putting MMM on tractor can be a chore sometimes. You need to block the MMM with a brick to align it with the arms. Arms could maybe have more downward play.

3. New Holland, and I'm sure other companies should done a better job of tightening bolts, and such from new. My TC21 had several loose connection, and bolts. Quality Control could be better.

All these things considered I very happy with my TC21D. And this is not a put down, but suggestios for the future. I'm sure other owner have other concerns. I probably forgot some good ones. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Steel,

As far as the diesel fuel, your right, it would be nice if lower on the side or something. But I have found that with the loader on it does make it easier for me at least. I rest the tank on the loader arm and then gradually lean it to pour over. Having the right fuel can helps, one with a solid spout instead of a flexible one the sticks straight up.

On your mower, A little trick I was told by my dealer that is not in the manual. Have all height adjustments in the 4" height, then remove the front pins only, after you have the front pins out then take your back height adjustment and set it up as high as it will go. Basically setting you deck at an angel. Then you should be able to remove the back pins. Just reverse the process for putting back on. That trick is not in the book but has helped drastically. Also having a loader to raise the tractor once everything is disconnected helps also. But you are right they can be tough to remove and re-install. My neighbors John Deere is twice as easy. But I think my loader to remove and put back on is a lot faster too. Both have their good and bad points.

Hey Murph,

Never heard that one before about the MMM. I could easily see it working. The FEL is a dream to unhook, and hook up as long as you release pressure in the quick connects. Thanks for the tip, maybe I'll throw away my Bricks. : /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

On the fuel I had the same problem with the 5 gallon cans until I got this. A hand pump for the plastice cans.

It works great.

Thanks for the reply bnixon,

Looks like a nice alternative to spilling fuel all over. Is 4 ft. long enough to reach from the ground? And how durable is it? I wish I could talk my wife into a tank for here at the house, but I don't go through that much deisel. Hard to do with a 5 Gallon tank on my tractor. Thanks for the suggestion.

I dont care for the foot pedal design. I think it should be 2 pedals on the left side so you can use brakes at same time plus the design is not comfortable for me. I will get used to it but my other tracter much easier with 2 pedals.

Hi Roto,

That's a good one. The only problem I would have is my left foot is very clumsy. I'd have a hard time with two pedals on that side maybe the brakes would be better on the left, and clutch on the right. Would that work better?

Yup... for convienence while filling, they should have offset the filler to one side. I'm sure this wouldn't fly with the product designers who wouldn't like the lack of "design balance" this would result in. This is called form over function.

Filling the tank is a pain, with a regular portable 5 gallon fuel container anyway.

I also had this problem. When I figured out what was happening, I went over the whole tractor and tightened up every fastener I could get to. Was surprised how many were relatively loose.

I would like to see a 2 stage clutch, for live pto on the none deluxe models. I think they could add about 500 lbs. to the weight of the tractor. The weight would justify the higher horse power. That Hand pump sure is nice I have one and it works very well.

I believe I got the same pump at TSC for $14.95. I set the fuel can on the floorboard of the tractor and the hose just reaches on my 1520. Since I am getting older, I don't want to lean over to ground level to work the pump, anyway /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. It is easy to replace the hose with a longer one, just be sure to use a hose clamp where the hose attaches to the pump, or you may spray yourself with fuel /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Been there, done that, gone fishing. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
