If you are doing lots of digging and moving dirt, get the 48.

If you are doing lots of land smoothing and driveway work, get the 54.

I'd go for the 48. My tractor weighs more than twice what a BX does and a 60" with all the rippers fully down will bring it to its knees.

I'd go 48", I've got it and I run out of traction long before the box is completely full in 90% of my situations.

Ive got the Landpride 48", still covers width of Bx. As others said, I run out of traction when the box is full. Dont think I would go any bigger.

Totally depends on what you're using it for. I have jd 2320, use an 84" for driveway maintenance, works great. Its way to big for earth work. I had a 48" but sold it because i just didn't use it. As for rippers you only need to drop as many as you can handle depending on application.

Personally I'd go 54"

I've used a 48" box blade with our BX for more than 10 years. As others have noted, it's when you get it full of material that it gets hard to pull. The 48" size is plenty enough blade for a BX-sized tractor, I think. There wouldn't be enough traction for getting meaningful work done moving/redistributing soil and gravel with a larger blade. If all you are doing is light grading and smoothing of a soft surface, yes you could go larger but it would greatly compromise the ability to do heavier work.

Hello, uvamosk. I have a BX2660 with R4 tires and the 54" box blade. Overall, this has worked very well for me. I have a 1/4-mile long gravel driveway that has some fairly steep hills. On the steepest sections, I have to raise the box blade a bit to prevent spinning the wheels. I have also used the box blade to move dirt and occasionally snow (although I prefer the front end loader for snow).

If you plan on frequently moving a LOT of dirt or do a lot of uphill work, I would think about going with the smaller blade. The larger blade won't do you much good if you are constantly struggling to maintain traction. Same thing if you have grass tires. Other than that, the 54" should be OK.
