I have been looking high and low for some new or used suitcase weights. I found a lot of them but the shipping cost was was very high. I finally found some at the Home Depot with FREE shipping! They are 42lb John Deere weights and fit perfectly on the front of my YM2000. I don't know how long free shipping will last, so you might want to jump on it.Rear Suitcase Weight-BG20029 at The Home Depot

OUCH,,, $1.40 per lb. Best place to find weights is at farm sales. Most can be bought for .50 per lb or less.

Yes, I went to three of them and could never buy less than 1000lbs.

Maybe this isn't possible, but have you guys checked at a dealership?? I can't imagine that your local JD dealer would charge more than $1.40 per lb. Seems the going rate for new weights is $1.00 per lb.

I tried to buy them at a few local auctions and the price always ended up over $75.00 each rusted , you have to remember they have that nice little Deere on them !

I've bought a lot of weights as farm sales. These are White suitcase weights, 105lb each, paid .30 per lb. There are deals out there, just gotta be patient.

Now you're talking!!! .83 per lb. Not bad at all for new weights that are the specific dimensions and weight that you want!!!

just noticed that the weights on the link are "REAR" weights? Did not know there were rear weights, are these the same one like in the pics and that hang on a front bumper?

Maybe listed that way because they only sell lawn tractors ? I want this style because I can hang them in front or off the box blade .

was either over the past weekend or earlier this week I seen some on CL for sale here in Ga, it had to be either Athens or Atlanta as they are the only 2 places I look at, Might be worth looking them up if still available, I suppose the drive to get them might be cheaper than the cost to ship them,
if you still need them I'll try looking back for them,

Oh they are closer than I remembered 5 miles up the road,:D

Look on search tempest it will search cragslist and ebay in a set circle around you, you set the miles. You would be surprised what is out there.

I got 240 lbs of weights that had been on a tractor with a larger bumper, and made a shim from a 4x6 faced with steel plate to match up the mounting dimensions. Everything fits snug and is secured with bolts. Here's a photo from a couple of years ago.

I subsequently found and adapted iron weights for the rear wheels too. Thread with photos - adapting the rear wheel weights to fit.

Then my neighbor gave me 200 lbs of weights from scrapped exercise equipment. Each is the size of a paperback novel and weighs 10 lbs. I used two of them to fill the cavity on the front of my front weights. If you stand back far enough - it doesn't look too bad. :D

Total iron ballast 410 lbs for $120. Plus filled tires. Finally I have enough traction to haul my watering trailer (weighs more than the tractor) uphill.

Here's my on the cheap extra balast thanks to a few of our local lakes. It's filled with lead from a collection of lost anchor's. Hefty 75Lbs.easy. Only 2wd and since I just needed to add for when the FM. is attached and trailering. Also make's for a great bumper.:confused2: :drink:
