At the risk of appearing the village idiot, can someone explain
about suitcase weights? I have the general idea. I see folks
on this and other sites who have built brackets (front and 3pt)
for their tractors. I guess my real question is where do I get
them and how many kinds are there? I have considered
buying/building one for my JD 140, but haven't seen more than two weights for sale in months. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Almost as many kinds as there are tractors. Most manufacturers sell their own weights to match their own brackets. If you want that "factory fit" go to your dealer and plunk down the cash.

Another option is a tractor salvage yard. They'll have all sorts of different weights generally sold by the pound. If you are cobbling, this would be a very economical approach. Some paint and it will look good as new. Don't expect to find many of the smaller, CUT sized weights though. Mostly larger ag tractor sized iron at the salvage yards /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
