Good news for me, I finally found the weight bracket Went on easy with the weights, used if for clean up what a dream. I also 'fixed' the PTO switch, following directions from these discussions. Works like a charm. Haven't got my new tires yet but that doesn't seem to be a big problem.

I got a lot of backfires when I first went out (in the middle of the storm). I assumed it was a wire shorting out from getting wet, but I am not sure. No problem since, and I didn't see any obvious problems. I'll keep and eye on it.

Duc, if you ever drive that tractor north to Mass. Let me know, I owe you a coffee or beer.

Happy New Year!!

I honestly say I wont be driving my tractor up north, but I will
be passing through before new years. I have family in N.H (white Mountains region) and I'm sure I'll be passing right by you! I'm glad you got the bracket, not sure if you are using chains yet. If you are getting new tires hold off on chains until you get your tires. The new tires will be larger than stock, so the chains will need to be resized.... 4 suitcase weights and chains will do the trick for you no problem.
I finally got enough snow to use mine (about 6") it put a smile on my face thats for sure....:)

Post some pictures when you can...

The weights worked great. New tires are on the way, now I have to chase down rims. I am still hoping to get away without chains. My better half has banned me from doing too many of the neighbors driveways (thats how I destroyed he old Ariens blower).
So in theory I will only be doing my own driveway.

As soon as I get some photos I will post them. My photographer, (same one with the rules about driveways) is recovering from pneumona, couldn't get her out of bed to take photos this last storm.

Finally got a decent storm to try. I bought the tires Ducatti recommended and they worked fine. Haven't added the liquid yet but the suitcase weights worked well. Posted one photo to the gallery (still new at this). I did have some trouble withs stalling but I added gas and some dry gas and everything went well after. Thanks for all the advise!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

LT74,

Its good to see and hear you got everything going!! I have 5 suitcase, and wheel weights (42 lbs) for a total of 294 lbs..
It has exceeded my expectations, and I really dont need my chains any longer ( but I will keep them just in case)
I think it will only improve if you add just a little more weight /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Another side shot of the wheel weights, which I understand might be available in 75 lb sizes...these are only 42 lbs each

Sitting here in SHOCK AND AWE!

I live in East Tennessee and have checked with two area Cub dealers - price here is $139 a set. I have a 5254 and would dearly love to have some suitcase weights at $30 each. I will definately check with Home Depot.

No area Home Depots carry the weights. My local Cub dealers cost on two weights is $85. All area John Deere retail prices are $40 each for 45 pound weights.

Guess I will be buying green and spray painting.

I left it green /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif thats a good price for the weights...

Interesting enough I added a cab for this winter - so I dont need as much weight -
