Sounds doable. I am trying to find the Rim Guard Ducati recommended. Looking for a dealer in the Massachusetts area. I am also considering upgrading my tires. Anyone got suggestions? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

LT74,
I have a CC 3235 with the 45" Snowblower. I used the CC front/rear weightbar, 4 JD suitcase weights painted yellow. I also bought an extra set of wheels, tires, tubes, and chains. I hate putting the chains on, so I keep 1 set with the chains and fluid for Winter work, and then just swap the tires when I need the additional traction. They are also filled with WW Fluid . This year I am building a 3-pt. weight bar for my 3-pt. hitch that will allow me to add 6-suitcase weights versus 4 on the weight bar. The more weight the better

Sounds like a great setup overall!! I think there is a threshold when too much suitcase weights get added, they tend to make the front end & attachment lighter making the steering slide more. My thoughts would be keep the weight on the axel (fluid-which you did) and wheel weights. So when you have 4 suitcase weights, fluid in tires(75lbs ea.) and wheel weights(42 lbs ea.) comes out to 402 lbs. Thats more than enough to handle basically any condition. I do not have filled tires so I have 252lbs, and chains I do not have the diff. lock feature, and I had no problems. And that was with all types of incline driveways...chains save you on weight requirements. Just my opinion on what I have learned..

I've pretty much decided to go with an extra set of tires and will try and add the weight. i haven't had any luck finding a rim guard dealer so probably will go with the ww. Had my troubles with wheel weights on my old Ariens. Putting them on was a major problem and then they stuck out beyond the blower. One of the reasons I liked the Cub was the suitcase weights, that and the shaft drive. Now that I have my blower set up I am happy with how it looks. Unfortunaltely, I carry some extra weight on the seat so with all that I might be able to skip the chains. I have a pressed concrete driveway and the chains did a number on the concrete if the tires spun. I'll give it a try any way. The dealer has been a little of a pain, he forgot to order the weight bracket although I found another dealer who has them in stock. I am glad I found this site, you guys are a font of good information. Happy Holidays Happy Holidays /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just put windshield washer fluid in my tractor yesterday.

I bought an adapter for filling from Tractor supply and a small electric drill pump from Home Depot. Bought 20gallons at Wal-mart for 1 each.

Wasn't working well at first. Then after some thought I drilled carefully through valve stem with small bit, seems the hole wasn't large enough for the pump to get liquid through.(tubes) After I did that worked good.

Think I added about 135lbs. and traction seems much improved.

Lt74,

What the other posters have told you is good, sound advice. Duc mentioned that there is a point when you have too much rear weight, and the front end gets light. That can also happen. On my JD425 I used to run 4 rear wheel weights (I think they were 50# ea) and in the worst conditions supplement that with a 3PH weight bracket with 5 X 45# suitcase wts (425#'s total). Traction was great, but the front end did want to get light and "plow" on its own. My solution was to add front wheel weights too, which had the added benefit of helping steering while using float. If interested I could post a pic.

I'd be interested in the photos. I finally picked up my suitcase weights now I am chasing down the rear bracket. Our snowstorm fizzled, probably a good thing but I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I hope to upgrade my tires, is it as important to change the front or will just the rears do?

Stuff like this would get me hot....its like getting a new car but no keys to operate it. I would be on this dealer for the bracket, especially if it was paid for (no excuse). They like to hold on to orders and place one with the factory to save on shipping. Great thinking but suppose you need it today? they expect you to wait until they get around to placing their order. NOT!! plenty of on-line sources who place directly with Cub, and you can get it in a few days...Its not the machine letting you down, its the lack of "urgency" from the dealer. Dont put up with it otherwise your machine will never been setup in time.
Good luck & keep us posted

Got to try my first snowstorm. I haven't got the weights on yet, still casing the damm bracket but I have finally found a dealer who has one in stock. Everything worked well but I definitely need the weights. The front plowed a little but I found I could control it by lifting the blower a little. First chance, I will add the windshield washer to the front tires. (Couldn't get Rim Guard to respond on a local dealer!) I think I'll order a set of rear tires and rims and probably have to add chains too. I haven't disconnetted my back up safety but will definitely do so this week. Had some backfires, I assume the wires were getting wet and causing a short somewhere. Hope to have some pics tomorrow to post. Sorry for the lengthy post but you guys have been very helpful and I thougth you might be interested. Duc you are right I got a good start, now it it getting the little things in order.
