Get your snow-moving jollies while you can. Once the deer appear frolicking in the back yard, summer can't be far off!
(that pic from a correspondent in Cape Breton...unfortunately, we don't have deer here in PEI).

Yup, didn't even need a ladder to do the spring gutter cleaning yesterday!

Finally got the front walk shovelled yesterday, now they're calling for another 12"+ tomorrow. But spring is only 3-1/2 weeks away....hah!

Check back with me in a month. Maybe by then the snow on the ground will be melted enough to see spots of earth. Heck we could get major dumping of snow for another 2 or more months.

I guess it's a difference in cultures. Up there summer is just around the corner when you can see the heads of deer sticking up through the snow. Down here we use a rodent seeing his shadow as a sign spring is near.

I plowed 8" of white summer this morning. Probably another 2-4 tomorrow. You can check back in a month or so, then we'll see how close summer is.

We have a bit of snow left on the ground too - and more coming today.

It looks like you have a really well-insulated house: no icicles!

It gripes me that just when day length starts getting longer, I can't see out of the house because of the snow piles!

A number of years ago I spent ten days in Feb in Colorado; cold, but beautiful weather with lots of sun the whole time. We got stuck for three days in Moncton on the way home to PEI (because of a blizzard that dropped 1.25m of snow) before we could get a flight the rest of the way home.

Bob.....I built the house 30 years ago and I made sure I had lots of insulation (for those days) - R48 in the attic (with raised heel trusses so the insulation is the full width of the house) and R20 in the walls. It's paid for itself many times over.

Your trip wasn't in 1992, was it? That's the last year I remember us having this much snow in Moncton, and that fell in 2 storms over 5 days.

Yep, good memory! We were travelling on my daughter's 3rd birthday, Feb. 23, and spent two nights at the Beausejour courtesy of Air Canada. By the morning of the third day, the hotel was running out of menu items; the hotel manager drove us to the airport in his Jeep to catch the first plane out... a Dash-8, of course.
