Sunday noise

I was out fishing in my little rowboat a couple weeks ago and an A10 came over at about 500'. He was banking nicely towards me and I waved. I could see his head, and hoped he'd wagle his wings, but he didn't. Then I thought about how bad it would suck if I was his enemy!

Now you have an idea of what the republican guard must have felt like when they first saw one. I believe you came out much better than they did!

What about the folks who have their holy day on Saturday?

Growing up around airplanes, working at airports for 7 years, and living by the airport for 44 years, I've seen a lot of really cool stuff! The A10 is right up there with the best of the best, just behind the SR71 but just ahead of the Hawker Sea Fury and P3 Orion. ;)

If you're Catholic you can go to 5:00pm mass on Saturday night so you can get drunk and not have to get up on Sunday morning..... ooops. I, ah, errr, I mean, if you're Catholic, and your job requires you to work on Sunday, you can go to mass on Saturday evening to fulfill your Sunday obligation.

That law was generally enacted to prevent the folks that don't bother going to church...from getting a head start on the folks that do go to church...!
I understand, that's why I kept a bottle of Boone's Farm in the glove box, in case a party broke out!

A10's occasionally "bomb and strafe" the airport next to my property, they also use to "target" boats in the river back in the 80's and 90's, when I had my Sleek Craft jet boat, I could maneuver and have some fun with them, but when I bought my Z25 Donzi, I was a sitting duck. :D

We had a place that for some reason, the smaller planes would make several small circles. I have no idea what they were practicing but they were more annoying then the A10 Warthogs that used to buzz over on low level training flights. At least the Warthogs had a mission.

Back in the late 80's,, I was driving up the Florida Turnpike and there was a flight of A10's "attacking" a Cypress head. Some of the flight would circle out away from the target and one or two would peel off and "attack" the head. Kinda fun to watch. :D The only A10 unit I knew about that was sort close was up in Shaw AFB in SC so I guess they flew down to attack some Cypress trees in FLA.:laughing::laughing:

Earlier in the 80's I was on sailboat in Biscayne Bay. Some F16's from Homestead AFB south of Miami were up and saw our boat. They proceeded to make attack runs on us though they never came in low. They stayed up high but we could see them line up on us, keep the nose down and pointed at us for a time before pulling off. Cool to see but a bit unnerving even though they were not getting close or low at all. I would suspect most people would not have noticed what they were doing.

Later,
Dan
