Sunpro Oil Pressure Gauge

/ Sunpro Oil Pressure Gauge #11
Well, I'm in the process of installing the Sunpro 1-1/2" gauges on my 1700. I've had a heck of a time in getting the adapter kit /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. The local Auto Zones don't carry them /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. I ordered through Jegs but they were backordred, so I cancelled and ordered through JC Whitney. Hope to get the mounting plate machined out this week to install. Great forum.

Yikes.. that's bad luck. Here in florida, our local stores ( the 2 where I live anyway ), have the metric adapter kits right ont he wall, also next to plastic and copper tubing as well.

Good luck !

I was able to find the adapter kit for the oil pressure gauge with no problem. But the water temp was hard to find. Finally got it at NAPA, a little pricey, but probably half what I spent in gas driving all over town. Good luck!

The meter pretty much bounces up and down so fast that it is just a blur. It gets worse at higher RPMS. I don't think it is showing me oil pressure variations. I will try the smaller orfice. I will also try and disconnect the gauge from the tractor and hold it in my hand, see if that makes a difference.

I'll be suprised if holding it your hand is any better. Sounds like you might be onto something with the smaller orifice to dampen the pressure variations. I didn't have to add anything special to mine, but I do remember one of the adapters having a very small hole, maybe designed to restrict the flow? Not sure. I think it was the one the copper tube screws into. Then that fitting screwed in to the metric adapter. I'll attach a picture, maybe it will help.

Well, the gauge install saga continues /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. I finally found the adapter kit in Texas and they are sending it out this week. Purchased a hole saw at Northern tool but Lowes didn't have the bit adapter /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. So...I returned it to Northern and purchased a 1-1/2" metal hole saw from Lowes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Well, guess what. It's too small /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Needs a 1-5/8" for the 1-1/2" Sunpros /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. So, I go to Lowes again looking for a 1-5/8" hole saw. Nothing. Nada. Don't have them. Looked at the dremels but didn't want to spend the money being a tightwad that I am. So...I resigned myself to the fact that I was gonna need to file out the inside of the holes for the mounting plate /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Decided to take one last look at the hole saws in Lowes and guess what...found a 1-5/8" hole saw laying in a column beside the wall of saws /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Discontiuned item but boy was I lucky to find it. Guess you learn from things like this. I usually end up going back and forth to the hardware store several times before I get everything I need anyway /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

On mine, I chucked a garnet hone ( 50 cents at the flea market), and rounde dout the holes made with a 1.5ID saw, to fit a sunpro.. doesn't take much.

good luck

When I installed the 2" gauges on mine the holes needed to be 2"1/16. Impossible to find. I used my dremel tool with a stone. It only took a minute to widen the hole.

Well, I cheated...Took it to our machine shop here on campus and got her drilled out to 1-5/8". Sometimes working at a community college has its advantages /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.
