Super clean your hydraulic oil.

Mobil1 is usually over 4 bucks a quart... 15 a gallon... X 10 gallons for me = $150 bucks to $200 for a hydraulic oil change. Yours will be twice as much. That isn't too bad... until we bust a hose and pump it on the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I may switch to it this spring if I can find a deal on it.

I just looked at the AMSOIL web site, and they want $110 for 5 gal. Since I have a 20 gal hyd tank, that would cost me $440 for an oil change, compared to 10W40 at $6 a gal and for a 20 gal. tank, the cost would be $120.

Super Tech full synthetic at Wallys. It' a whole lot cheaper than the major brand stuff at around $12 for five quarts.

Yikes, a 15% Noack volatility????

Three points SkyPup:

1. The spec does not say 15% NOACK volatility. It says "less than 15%." Actual NOACK volatility isn't given.

2. <15% is the requirement for API SL and ILSAC GF-3 and GF-4 classifications, so it meets those, which means it meets GM's requirements for their big bucks Corvette.

3. This thread concerns Power Trac hydraulics, which use motor oils instead of hydraulic fluids. In this application, the oil will not get nearly as hot as it would in a motor application, so the NOAK volatility test does not have the same significance as it otherwise would.
