Little bit of everything
I have a Clark Michigan 45c wheel loader, and I'm currently running super tech Hydr fluid but last winter we had 3 ft of snow and I need this thing to clear my roads, but my hydraulics wouldn't work.. Does anyone know if this is just cheap oil and freezes? What could I do to prevent it from freezing?

The ST oil is made by three different companies and delivered by proximity of the plants. Here are the companies
Warren Dist./WPP,Exxon/Mobil and Shell/Pennzoil/Quaker State
Warren dist is in Nebraska I think, shell is in Texas and I do not know where the Exxon plant is. From reading on the net formulations between the Brand name and ST is minimal. If the ST hydro oil meets the specs for your rig you should be OK. If it is freezing I would check for water in oil and learn how it got there. If it is cold enough the oil will get thick, but usually after a warm up it will get moving again.

I checked for water and there is none that I can tell.. We left it running all night last year and it still got too cold to where I couldn't move my hydraulics

i've never had an issue with supertech or travveler ( warren products ).. there are some 303 pureflo and premium oils sold at TSC and the pureflow will setup thick like molassis.. whereas the premium won't.

check the viscosity for your oil...

It sounds like your viscosity is too high. ISZ

i'm not sure where you live. i believe the extreme is a little better than the pure flo.

Live in Upstate NY so temps can get down to below zero. Anytime it is that cold the salamander gets blown on the middle of the tractor which covers the oil pan and the Hydro sump for 10 to 15 minutes minimum to warm things up a bit. I guess we will see though.

magnetic block heater for the pan and sump and a trickle charger for the battery might not be bad.. top the bat off.. keeps it warm.. keep the oil a lil warmer.. etc.... i think I'd have a lower hose or freeze plug coolant heater too.. if I lived where temps dropped below 0
