Anyone ever use one of the Super Trapp clamp-on mufflers and resonators from Jacks Small Engines? My 1864 is pretty noisy, I checked the muffler and I don't see any leaks, would like to reduce the sound level a bit. I'm concerned one of these mufflers might cause too much back pressure, was wondering if anyone had an opinion or experience with them.

You would need to install two of them, one for each cylinder, and have pipes made to route them out of the engine compartment. (A lot of work.) The 1864's twin engine is tuned to have the exhaust pulses from the cylinders combined in one muffler, so switching to seperate mufflers for each cylinder might effect engine runability.

I'm surprised SuperTrapp is making a line of QUIET mufflers for small engines? They have been known for years for making those headers and pipes for motorcycles and cars just so people could hear them ten miles away LOL!

I thought the Super Trapp could mount on the outlet pipe of the stock muffler. Can this be done or does it have to be removed? I'm certainly not going to change to dual pipes and mufflers.

This is the 5th Cub I've run and is louder than the others. Nothing terrible, I wear hearing protection most of the time, but I'd still like to quiet it down a bit if possible. I almost think a tin can on the end of the pipe would help!

Wow..I've got a 1863 and the wife loves the sound..she says it sounds like a Harley! So I let her mow the lawn!.Are you sure it's not the muffler??maybe the insides are bad??

Mark, I was wondering that myself. The tractor has 1,100 hours on it and the muffler and pipes don't look too bad on the outside. Each cylinder firing is such a sharp pop that I wondered if an internal baffle was gone.

On the Cub site they show $190 for a new muffler so I wasn't going to just change it out! Any way to check the internals of the muffler?
