Super udt fluid

I'm getting ready to do the 50 hour service myself on a b7500 hsd. The manual recommends Kubota Super UDT. I saw the correct weight transmission oil at tractor supply for a more reasonable price than Super UDT from the local Kubota dealer. Anyone have experience using other than what Kubota recommends, is this a bad plan?

This is the REAL DEAL. I was low on my trans fluid due to a plugged breather and the fluid blowing out the check tube. I called the "oil guru" that sells us all the oil for the mechanics (not auto-more like high speed automated machines) and he reccommended Hydraulic 50. Let's face, Kubota IS NOT in the hydraulic oil business. They buy it just like we do. I would use a different brand without hesitation. I would even buy Wal-Mart brand, as I believe that the changing is more important than the "brand", and Wal-Mart, just like Kubota, does NOT make their own oil. I drive all Fords, but I use Castrol Oil all the time, NOT Motorcraft... Just my $.02.......

My $.02 is use Super UDT./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
All my dealings with Kubota on my 2910's power steering was to use Super UDT./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

There have been previous lenghty discussions on this and if I remember UDT was the earlier version and the superUDT is a synthetic version. Personally I went with amsoil and didn't worry about the cost since after the 50 hour I don't think you have to change it again for a long while (maybe 400 hours if memory serves?) The lower viscosity when cold for the amsoil more than makes up for the higher cost in my opinion.

Yes, check the other thread and/or do an archive search on UDT. Basically Kubota says use Super, many dealers say UDT unless it is cold where the tractor lives, less then 30 degrees.

However in my experience, if you have a newer tractor with a hi flow hydraulic system you will loose the benefits somewhat by using the heavier oil. I found that with my L35 the loader especially had lost some of it's super fast operation. There isn't much point in spending the money on a tractor if you are willing to reduce it's abilities. The HST machines would probably also suffer transmission wise, maybe not out and out damage, but operation efficiency would be reduced. The HST develops heat much more severe then the GST DT's, the Super (or Synthetics) handle that a lot better and give immediate flow at startup and cold temps.

I was a Super UDT skeptic, now I'm not.

I agonized with this at my 50 hr maint, did the research and came back to Super UDT, actually a synthetic blend, (not pure synthetic). You spent thousands on your tractor, why skimp on the maintenance. Super UDT is less than $10/gallon when you buy the 2.5 gallon jugs.

My dealer suggested Super UDT and said it's easier on the tractor when you start it and get going right away without anything warming up. Especially in winter.

Where did you find Super UDT for less than $10 a gallon? My local dealer told me it was $13.40 a gallon, period. I want to use the Super UDT but I do not want to pay through the nose for it. I have seen 5 gallon containers also. I need about 12 for my L3710 HST.

For that price you should just get Amsoil tractor fluid. I paid about that with shipping (and the preffered customer discount).
