i want to know the iso grade so i can use a different brand if possible- super udt is way to expensive because kubota brands it in their name, thus charging a premium- do you know the iso grade on udt or super udt??? or a similar product that will work in my bx series?
I can tell you this and it came from the mechanic that set up my 5030. He told me that Valvoline makes UDT for Kubota. You might try them for more information.
I know that a search on Super UDT would bring 57,000 results but heres another 2 cents worth. Super UDT has cold weather performance that easily exceeds that of UDT. In fact, it exceeded Amsoils 30 SAE. With the introduction of hydrostatic transmissions, getting a better cold performance hydraulic oil was a necessity. I paid $25 per 2.5 gallon container. My L48 took four containers although I bought 5. That was $100 or about .003 of the value of the tractor, it's your call. I think that the oil from Amsoil or Chevron etc. would also be perfectly suitable. If you live in a climate where cold is not an issue, I'm sure you can find something even cheaper. Rat...
I changed the hyd fluid on the L3130 and replaced it with a premium xxx Kubota UDT equivilent. Manual says you can use either but they recommend the Super UDT. I noticed right away they everything was noisier. Also there appeared to be a small power loss. Its not cold here either at the moment 50-70 deg.
I will be using the Super UDT at the 400 hour change. That should be about September timeframe when the temps start dropping. At least I can say I tried it, didn't like it. At the rate hours are going on the tractor these days at least the timing works out to go back to the Super.
