Mike, (MikePA) you (rightfully so) killed my post, or should I say, put the final nail in - as others shot it up so badly it was unrecognizable. And this, a second time, for the same thing was done a while ago on my previous post on the same subject.

Re: Amsoil Syn Hydraulic Fluid vs Super UDT or NH 200 [Re: Z71]

What we don't understand we fear, and what we fear we put down.
IOW, if someone doesn't agree that Amsoil is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then they're ignorant and afraid. Sigh.

No one is putting down anything, merely stating another opinion.

Perhaps we need to add Amsoil to the list of forbidden topics since almost every thread ends up this way. )

I still would like to discuss these three fluids, exclusively, or include the John Deere fluid, if some would like. What I've learned so far is:

Amsoil fluid is not tested to meet the various manufacturer specs, but it is now recommended by Amsoil for the Super UDT and NH 200 applications.
Amsoil is synthetic.
Amsoil is multi-viscosity - 5w-30
Super UDT is ????
NH 200 is multi-viscosity, but is it synthetic, and if so, what type?
Some dealers are using Super UDT in NH machines.

Anyone fill in the rest?

Lastly, one request, please keep the comment to hydraulic fluid. There's been lots of debate on oil issues already /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Thanks for all your input!
Duane.

Here's my personal experience with John Deere low viscosity Hy-Gard. I don't know the technical specs, but I very much doubt it is synthetic. When I did my 50 hour change last summer, I was quite surprised how thin the fluid was - almost like water. This winter, it was very obvious that the fluid was much thicker in the cold. The coldest I used the tractor was close to -30C, and at that temperature there were some evil squealing noises from the hydraulics (especially the steering) and everything moved in slow motion until the oil warmed up. For that reason alone I will be switching to Amsoil's synthetic fluid. The fact that it might not be "officially" certified is not relevant to me. I am convinced it is a good product and the cold weather advantages of synthetics are a huge plus in the temperatures we get up here. That they last longer, lubricate better, etc. is an added bonus.

Duane-
Why not do this here to save some aggravation.

Email Amsoil the question you need answered on NH 200 and Super UDT fluids. I would also state to them what your application for the fluid is (engine, gear, hyd etc). Also email NH or Kubota. That is the only way you are going to get the answer you want.

I posted in the last closed thread on why Amsoil does not state Super UDT.

I just returned from the kubota dealer. i went to get my 50hr oils. they sold me N.H. hydro oil, said its all they use in all the brands they sell kubota/new holland/agco/Jd it exceeds specs, not a warranty issue, and the price is right. they said if i lived in a colder climate a super udt would be called for. I bought it ,put it in,and it runs great. I will use the extra money i saved to take my wife to dinner. then see how my motor runs /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What are we talking about? Super UDT is about $15 a gallon, Chevron AW is about $13 and UDT is about $10 per gallon. Dinner in SF, what, $150 with the woman (or man) you love, priceless. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I paid 57$ for 10 gals + tax by your math we can stop at the bar on the way /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

At that price it's gotta be crap. I would not feed that to my Jinma! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
