How does Super UDT differ from UDT? I have learned that Chevron 1000 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid is the equivalent of the UDT, but will it meet the specs for the Super UDT also?(If so this would save some driving, as I no longer have a nearby Kubota dealer) The tractor the fluid is to be used in is a '99 M5400. Will it hurt if a small amount of factory fluid mixes with the new fluid if it Chevron or a brand other than Kubota? What should be done to drain the amount of fluid in the loader cylinders and lines, or is this not a concern?

There has been much discussion of Super UDT vs UDT. Basically, Super UDT was developed for better transmission performance, especially the GST/HST transmission. It is also considered to be a synthetic blend according to the content description and carries a much higher price than UDT.
There are many generic fluids out on the market that state they meet UDT requirements and many owners use same. To my knowledge, there have been no generic fluids found that state specifically they meet Super UDT requirements. Some owners have switched to pure Synthetic (such as Amsoil) for about the same price as Super UDT. When switching to any fluid other than the recommended UDT or Super UDT, during warranty period, it has been recommended to check your dealer for any warranty issues that might arise.
Concerning mixing of different types of trans fluids. Super UDT and UDT are compatible. Mixing other brands should be reviewed with the manufacturer. Draining fluid completely is probably not possible without doing some significant maintenance disassembly. Best procedure is to lower all cylinders to remove as much as possible prior to changing of fluid. Good luck.

I went with all synthetic (amsoil) on my 50 hr change. Cost about the same as the Super UDT and for something I plan on lasting as long as my tractor I didn't mind the extra cost. I wouldn't worry about the little bit left in the cylinders. It's such a small amount in proportion to the total it shouldn't matter. As indicated in the last post just have the cylinders retracted as much as possible.
