Sorry for the sketchy details, but my Mother-in Law is gone now, so there is no clarification available to me. She was in Yellowstone in the late 50's/ early 60's, when they had an earthquake. It caused some lake to drain, formed some other lake, and a number of people were killed. Mom said she hugged a tree all night long. (The campground where they were going to stay was full so they stayed in another. The first one was where most of the folks who died had camped.) All the waterworks today are evidence that the area is not dormant.
