I'm pondering a large frame Boomer, such as a TC40D. The local dealer claims that few people are ordering them with supersteer (he said only 8% nationwide, I think he was referring to the larger Boomers). He said that buyers are "scared" of them, probably because of the chance of more complex steering mechanism going wrong. Maybe the additional length scares me a little. Then there's the extra cost, I assume around $1000. What do Tractorbynet and specifically large frame Boomer owners think? I'm interested in woods applications so I'm concerned about size and maneuverability.

Bradey,

After using a TC40D w/supersteer for a month and a half ... I love it /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif! The manueverability is great without tearing the grass, soil, sod, etc.

Based on how the engineering looks and the fact that it is not a first iteration idea but one taken from the large ag tractors I went for it. Supersteer coupled with the sensi-track 4wd system is one of the two major reasons I was interested in NH.

If your dealer does not have a supersteer model available to test drive it would be worth it to take a trip and try one.

Bradey,
I would pay the extra cost for the supersteering.
There many of times I wish I had supersteering while working on my tree farm also getting firewood out.
I read also seen one NH work in the woods with supersteering, and its truly safer.
I wish Kubota would offer supersteering than I know I would trade./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Have a pleasant weekend.

Bradey,

I think that it really depends on the use of your tractor. Are you going to mow around a lot of trees? I have a TC35D (large frame boomer) without supersteer. Most of my land is just open pasture so supersteer is useless for me. In fact I think the tractor already turns pretty sharp (way sharper than a car at least). I can whip the rotary cutter around pretty fast! DaveV and others seem to really like their supersteer so I have no doubt that it works really well. Comparted to the rest of the tractor I don't think supersteer is THAT complicated. Do you need a LOT more maneuverability than the the already tight turning radius of the boomer?
