"" does anyone still recommend using Moly (molybdenum sulfide) as an additive ""
It may sound like ancient history, but I used Auto-Moly and Gear-Moly from J. C. Whitney in my new 1964 Pontiac GTO. I drove it to work daily, drag raced it 4 times a week, and after 3 years and 107,000 miles never had a bit of engine or transmission work done, just 2 replacement clutches!! I used 5,000 rpm starts, and full throttle "power shifts"!!
I also had a 250cc motorcycle that shifted so stiffly that after a few miles of riding the tops of my toes would be sore even when wearing heavy riding boots. I added Gear-Moly to the transmission, and from then on I could easily ride all day with just sneakers on my feet!! Click, click - smooth as silk!!
New high performance camshafts always came with a tube of moly to lube the lobes at installation.
