My trailer is only maybe 5-6 years old and I some how fried the breakaway system wiring.

It has a front tongue box that houses the battery and hydraulic pump for the actuator. Some how something shorted in the box and burnt the wires down the channel and into the junction box on the side. I think I've figured out most of it, but there is one wire that came off of the solenoid on the hyd pump. It ran from the junction box to the solenoid, which looks like it has a relay on it or fuse (to messy). Though the system works fine without the wire hooked up, but I was wondering if anyone has an idea to what this wire was for? A safety? engage the brakes?

Also the hyd reservoir needs to be replaced, its just plastic, mounted to the side of the pump. Are these standard sizes?

Welcome to TBN..............

I've attached a basic drawing for the hydraulic pump wiring which is standard for most tilt and dump trailers. I think most pumps use a standard reservoir tank also. You can probably contact Suretrac for a replacement tank.

For the breakaway system one wire would be connected to the battery to supply power to the breakaway switch. The other wire connects to the wire for the brakes (usually a blue wire, yours may be different). Then when the breakaway switch is pulled it would apply power to the brakes.
