\"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

Gentlemen,
Glenn brought up an interesting topic about reliability and tractors. Instead of relying on conjecture let's post here any repairs that you have had done on your tractor. Please state your brand, model #, and the repair that was done. Any other comments like warranty coverage, done right, etc. are fine but let's just compile a list of what really goes wrong with these for our own curiosity and to help future buyers. Please be completely honest if you have or haven't had repairs. Thanks in advance for posting. The only way to make this accurate is for as many people as possible to post here.

If you've had no repairs then also please post here your tractor and that you have had no repairs done to it. Thanks.

JD 4600 Jan. 2000 model. Only repairs were I had the dealer fix the sticking hand brake button and the linkage on the loader control had gotten sticky when I was in for the backhoe install.

Kubota B2410 (approx 45 hours)
Slight drip of hydraulic fluid on Loader control as delivered. Immediate fix by dealer. Leak is no more /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Re: "Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor"

Kubota L2500DT, 243 hours (56 by me since I bought it).

No problems on record before I bought it, and none since I've had it. I thought I might have a slow hydraulic leak, but turns out I was wrong. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

WAIT! I almost forgot -- when I was crawiling around under my tractor a while back, I noticed one of the ROPS bolts looked loose and I couldn't tighten it up 'cuz the threads were buggered up. I replaced the nut and bolt myself. Does that count as a repair?

Re: \"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

'95 B7100 front end loader lowering and dumping (very slowly) by itself; dealer put new seals in cylinders; didn't fix it, replaced all 4 cylinders during first year under warranty.

Same tractor, 3 years old and approx. 300 hours, fuel tank developed tiny crack and leaked where one of the metal bands went around it. I removed and fixed it.

'99 B2710, rattle sounded as if coming from front drive shaft; dealer removed drive shaft and put it back; found no problem, but stopped the rattle; warranty of course.

Oops, I forgot that it chewed up the fan belt this summer, and I replaced it myself.

Re: \"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

2001 JD4300 HST.
at 5-10 hours - Left Rear tire loosened. Dealer determined they hadn't torqued to correct specs. Torqued to 90 lbs. Should have been 114 lbs. Warranty replace for new rim and bolts.
at 48 hours - Ran over buried t-post with front tire. Patch tire and AmerSeal it.

2001 B7500HSD

3ph lift arm adjuster had bad threads. Dealer replaced under warranty.
Tractor was delivered with a plug in left rear tire. Dealer will patch free of charge.

Re: \"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

B7500 with about 50 hours on it. No repairs or warranty claims.

However, the joy stick on the FEL had an annoying rattle from the looseness of the controls. I shimmed the places where there was a lot of slack with cut-up pieces of inner tube.

Re: \"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

Kubota B2410, bought new in 2/01. No repairs to date, though I did have to snug a couple fittings on the loader control valve to stop a slow leak. I have a little over 40 hours on the tractor right now.

Good idea for a thread, Cowboydoc.

Re: \"Survey of Repairs on Your Tractor\"

2000 John Deere 790, mfwd, fel, tnt, presently 125 hours - only problem was positive battery cable coroded through at about 100 hours, 7 months old - dealer provided replacement part under warranty - at my option, I installed it, easier than tranporting tractor to dealer. I have had to clean the battery area several times for off gasing.
