Rescinded the transaction throught the credit card company. Am probably buying a FX28 for about the same price.

i would report this to the local better business bureau and to the state attorney general's office about possible deceptive trade practices. like the others said, that kind of price for a small compact tractor over 20 years old is way way too high. for just a few thousand more you can get a brand new unit from one of the "BIG THREE" and have something that is new and popular and easy to get service and parts for. i would also tell the dealer about their sales technique AFTER i reoprted them to the authorities. this kind of nonsense needs to be stopped. good luck!

Got the FX28D. Great Machine. Cost $350 more than the local dealer wanted for the ym2000BD with the same equipment and a tiller was thrown in with the FX28D (wouldn't have come with the YM2000BD). As others have said, the YM they were selling me was $2000 too high.

You did the right thing!

Sounds to me like they wanted some type of check to keep the power of the credit card company off their backs should a (likely) problem occur. Notice how they wanted to avoid the credit sale.

I'm always happy to see someone avoid getting the shaft once in a while. I'm always amazed at the extra effort some of these clowns go through to squeeze that extra buck in a shady manner when all they have to do is be honest.
