Does anyone know if those suspension seats that they sell in Agrisupply or TSC will fit a ym2000. I was in TSC yesterday and they have one for $93 or so that has a shock absorber on it. That would take a lot of the blow out of a long day bushhogging of plowing a rough field for 4-5 hours.

Easy improvment for me was just to add a old valve springs were the rubber bumpers were and it improved the ride 100%. Most automotive machine shops will give you a couple of old ones that are left over from rebuilding engine heads. Put the money back in your pocket unless something else is messed up on the seat.

Chris, I'm going to look into that for my 2002. I'm all for cheap and good.

5 bucks at Home Depot. My seat was a little to laid back and stiff. Easy fix 1 1/2" Freeze plugs from home depot. Just put the screws in upside down and screwd the plugs on. Cheap,Easy and Absorbs Alot of Shock. No kidding it works great.

Pick up a set of generic exhaust flange springs, ( a $5 bagged autoparts store item). Bolts on in place of the bumper with a fender washer. I cap them with rubber table-leg feet to prevent scratching the seat.

I like your idea norm. If i lived in a bigger town where someone did Headjobs id go that route and try and make it work, but i dont want to drive .5-1 hour to try and find a shop. I think i will pick up the exhaust flange springs. I was looking at some as i was waiting in NAPA friday as a matter of fact. NOt for this but just cause i was standing by the display of them. Funny how things work out and what you dont realize about things.

when I first got my tractor someone had rigged a yellow JD seat on it, besides it clashing and being the wrong color  the foam was very thick and I would sit up too tall, I suppose the seat itself was comfortable but was out of proportion with the tractor, I looked at the seats from TSC and then I remember how many good seats I had seen on some ridding mowers at the salvage yard, so I wound up getting one from a larger mower that had a tall back rest on it................. so I did a bit of rigging myself :D it has the bowed spring that goes from one side to the other, I removed the round bushing from what was original and fabd up a pc that this bowed spring would sit on, actually feels rather comfortable, More or less as your ridding mower would sit  although the seat itself is as i said with a high back and formed to sit better than most standard mowers, I'm thinking it came from an older Cub cadet mower and might have even been an aftermarket seat, I can live with it, but some day will get the nicer ones at the TSC,;)

BTW I'm still keeping an eye out for a tiller

I have a YM2210 and had the same problem. I also have a Cub Cadet 2166 lawnmower that has very good seat springs. I ordered a new set of 2166 seat springs for the 2210 from partstree and replaced the rubber bumpers with them. What a difference! The springs come with washers already attached to one end. The hardest part was removing the old rubber bumpers. The nuts had corroded down in the tops of the rubber. I cut them off with a sawzall but a hacksaw would also work.

I bought one of the Agrisuppy seat with the wrap around back support and installed it on my YM 4220 but it took a ton of modification to make it fit to a position that I could still get into the seat. The seat is much larger than the factory seat. I had to remove the metal plate that tied the fenders together in order to slide the seat back far enough to give me some leg clearance between it and the steering wheel. It sets up about 3 inches higher also, which was good for me as the original seat was too low for me. Thankfully I had a welding machine and some scrap metal because I had to totally redesign the supports for the seat. A little redesign, removal of parts of the tractor and everything works. It was all worth it. THe new seat is 1000% better than the old one, much easier on my back. I dont know if it would work at all on the smaller versions. Maybe, just have to do some experimenting.
