Here I am stuck in Prudhoe Bay working. While my BX22 is wasting away in San Diego. I at least have the wildlife to help keep my sanity. This lonely swan hangs out near my office. Not sure if he is young and looking for a mate or lost...

It is a Nikon 4500, I think the last of the swivel series. It has a 4 power optical lens. I switched from a Canon S10 and like it real well. Just learning all the features... Gary

I think they are now offering a $200 rebate on that model, did you get in on that? I have had my eye on the 5000 because it has the 28mm wide angle and I believe it will accept the flash off of my 35mm Nikon. I cant believe that more manufacturers aren't making more cameras with a wide angle lens. Everybody wants zoom, zoom, zoom. Zoom is great but for my work I need wide angle.

Nice pictures, Gary. I guess you still have the caribou, too, like this picture I made at Prudhoe Bay on the July 4 weekend of 1991.

So Bird, You know the place. I was here then. I have worked up here since 1980. 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. Here is a lone caribou from my office window. Taken 15 minutes ago.

Spencer,
The rebate was a big selling point for me. I looked at the 5700 and could not justify $1000. Plus it is not as easy to haul around. I like this so far.
