Swap ROPS bolt / pin

I had a chance to look at my CK3510 (did not get a picture) but you are missing a bolt compared to how mine was delivered.

Based on this image https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...565199998-swap-rops-bolt-pin-rops-capture-jpg
There should be a bolt in holes 1, 2, 3. The pin should be in A when ROPS is up. I assume the bolt in hole 2 was placed there to discourage folding the ROPS down.

I have not tried to lower mine but if I have time to check it before it's dark tonight I will try.

Thank you all for reading & responding.

Chevy - Your setup seems to confirm it - I think that is how it should be. What is the purpose of the 3rd/lowest bolt on yours? Does the rops just sit on that so it doesn't come all the way down?

Cheers,
-M.

The lowest bolt keeps the ROPS from folding all of the way down. I believe it requires that bolt for a backhoe attachment. Without that bolt, the ROPS would swing down & hit the backhoe levers.

Great find on that walk around video from Kioti New Zealand site. That should be an authoritative enough source, matches Chevy's setup exactly, is close enough to Australia that some corner case regional difference is unlikely and just makes sense that way.
Attached a pic from that video.
There were also 2 extra bolts in the bag of goodies that came with it so it's now apparent where those are meant to go as well.
I will swap them and add the lowest bolt so the frame doesn't fall onto the mower.
Thanks all!

Makes me wonder if the dealer installs the top 1/2 of the ROPS and is doing it wrong? Maybe they factory ships with the top 1/2 off to save space?

"High tensile". Are there such things a tougher than Grade 8?? In a real roll over both the bolt AND the pin could be stressed. I would hope that both are "high tensile" - or whatever.
Grade 5 is tougher. That's what's in steering, towing, bumper, subframe and suspension members. Grade 8 will snap, grade 5 won't.

[...]

After you hit your garage header a couple times, plus a few tree branches, the ROPS will vary a few 1,000s, so the pin holes will not line up.

[...]

My ROPS is brand new, haven't hit anything with it. I took it completely off at the hinge to install something, and when I went to put it back on, I had a heck of a time. It was about 1/4" too wide. I had to put a small nylon strap load tightener on it and ratchet it as hard as I could.

So I guess I should, what, run it into trees a few times? maybe going backwards? which way do I run into things to make the top half narrower or the bottom half wider?

Or, I dunno, maybe never take it off again....
